Aalto Fashion

Founded in 1871 in Finland, Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture has since established itself as one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. AALTO FASHION showcases their freshly graduated students Henna Lampinen, Tuuli-Tytti Koivula, and Juha Vehmaanperä as Hotel Lilla Roberts fashion partners for May. These young designers have experimental approach to materials and they highly value the craftsmanship in their work.

HENNA LAMPINEN

HENNA LAMPINEN is a designer who combines creative material manipulation to experimental form. Lampinen often looks back in history to find out themes and inspiration that can be linked to today's issues. In her newest collection Lampinen has combined ‘’make do and mend’’ spirit and worn out materials to silhouettes from the 50’s, Materials such as men’s blazers and argyle socks are connected with exaggerated stitching.  She is the winner of the Designers' Nest Awards 2019.

TUULI-TYTTI KOIVULA

TUULI-TYTTI KOIVULA’s clothes are dive into a sweet and twisted fairytale world. She wants to design playful pieces with an attitude for a serious world. Koivula is especially fascinated by ugliness, humble, crude and worn-out things. Experimental materials, storytelling, granny’s place and beauty of everyday craziness are part of Koivula’s aesthetics. Her latest collection tells a story about the Creepy Granny.

She won the second Prize in the Designer's Nest Awards 2019.

JUHA VEHMAANPERÄ

Craftiest Bitch in Town on Juha Vehmaanperän prototyyppi muotimerkistä. CBiT:n lähtökohtina ovat käsin tehdyt vaatteet ja omasta omituisuudesta nauttiminen. Nykyajan muotibisneksen perustana on teollisesti tuotetut vaatteet, mikä mahdollistaa pikamuodin olemassaolon. Käsityömenetelmin työskentely on kiinnostava tapa tehdä muotia uudesta näkökulmasta hyödyntäen vanhaa kulttuuriperinnettä. CBiT:n tarkoitus ei ole myydä mahdollisimman paljon vaatteita vaan tehdä mielenkiintoista visuaalista sisältöä. Vehmaanperälle omituisuus on tärkeä ominaisuus, sillä muodissa hänelle tärkeintä on haastaa ajan kauneusihanteita.
